Cardiology

The term Cardiology is derived from the Greek word “Cardia” means “Heart” and “Logy” means the “study of” so called Cardiology. It deals with heart and heart related diseases. However, the surgery is performed by heart surgeons who specialize in surgical procedures to treat heart problems.


Most of the heart problems occur due to structural problems, blood clots and damaged vessels. Some of the most common types of cardiovascular diseases are: Angina, Arrhythmia, Heart Attack, Heart Failure, Rheumatic Heart Disease, Congenital Heart Disease and Valvular Heart Disease.


Common Cardiovascular Diseases


Angina: Angina is also called ischemic chest pain. It is also a type of chest pain that occurs when blood flow is reduced to the heart. It feels like squeezing or you'll feel more pressure on your chest. It is not a disease, it occurs not only in the heart other places like shoulders, arms, neck or back. Angina pain may even feel like indigestion.


Arrhythmia: The Improper beating of the heart is called Arrhythmia, the irregular heart beat can be too fast or too slow. When a heart beats too fast, the condition is called tachycardia. When a heart beats too slowly, the condition is called bradycardia. It occurs when electrical impulses in the heart don't work properly. There will be no prior symptoms but alternatively you feel symptoms like fluttering in the chest, chest pain, fainting or dizziness.


Heart Attack: It is also called myocardial infarction, Heart attack usually occurs when there is a blockage of blood flow to the heart muscle Without blood, tissue loses oxygen and dies. Symptoms include tightness or pain in the chest, neck, back or arms, as well as fatigue, abnormal heartbeat and anxiety. After recovering from a heart attack we need to change lifestyle and cardiac rehabilitation to medication that can prevent you from the next attack.



Rheumatic Heart Disease:


A disease that can result from inadequately treated strep throat or scarlet fever. It causes inflammation in the heart, blood vessels and joints. It can be identified by the following symptoms, fever and painful, tender joints. When you’re affected by Rheumatic fever you need to continue the medications for a life.
